Geil Reich About Link Building
Your goal = Get your Message on Their Site

Ways to do that
Testimonials
Reviews and ratings
Badges and praise (make an impression of an  authority)
Have chutzpah – he gave himself an award… start acting like an authority, don’t wait to be declared as one

Another Strategy
Guest post – the goal is to get your message, not necessarily by links.
Leverage others; seo power
Use Q&A sites (see Rand Fishkin from Seomoz)
Enlightened self interest is OK

Be a part of your community
Common enemies – a great way to engage a community
Be positive or be careful!
Ask for the link
The 1st rule in sales  is to ask for the sale 🙂
even in a receipt (!)
Be personal, script lightly, be brief, remove buzzwords, upfront…

Ofer Dascalu about Link Building

Link buying – is it (still) working?

To buy or not to buy?
It depends on:
Your industry
How well established are your competitors?
Do your competitors buy links?
What is your marketing budget?
Are you willing to take risks?
How heavily does your business rely on search traffic?
What are your real alternatives?

How to locate opportunities?
Competitor backlinks research
Link brokers, SEO agencies
Facebook, Linkedin and other social media sites

Negotiation
Is it a buyers or sellers market?
– Buyers market!!!

How to evaluate an offer?
– Use your common sense
– Look for real sites (real content that attracts real visitors)
– Be careful of SEs’ honey pots and PR scams
(domain name irrelevant to the niche that ranks well = suspicious)
– Stay away form link networks and link farms
– Evaluate the whole site and not only the specific page/s
– Avoid pages with more than 10 links
– Check the seller’s site backlinks (how did he get them?)
– Focus on your niche (Relevancy).

link building using social media – Michael King
Link building is about people, it’s about convincing someone you don’t know to link to you.
“hey I’m awesome –  link to me!”

Build relationships not links
Eavesdrop on your audience
Invest in quantitative analysis tools
Personas are important

Social and search will continue to integrate ranking in the trust-rank era.

Link building golden rule – CONTEXT is king!

Use the SEER method for link proseting
have a persona for link building
build an authentic separate persona per niche

Use followers with scraper

Use mentionmapp – identify people
Do your research (act one) – words analysis, conversation analysis – all before you start communicating.

Talk to people like people

Make your message stand out (natural, brief)
1st email – personal, don’t mention your wish for link, just create a relationship
Offer value – give people what they look for

Tools
Twuffer – Use it to schedule tweets
Siteskout – talk about subject that are being talked about already (popular)
Ifttt – Use Ifttt to build your persona.
Zemanta – A paid wordpress plugin that suggests images, links, tags and related articles while you write your blog post and promotes your content

Menachem Rosenbaum about long tail link building

What kind of links do you want???

30% of search terms are 4 words terms.
Less competition terms support main phrases.

What to focus on?

Conversion by phrase length
5-6 word phrases gain more conversions than 2-3 word phrases.

You can find these long tail phrases via:
Google Analytics, Google suggestions, Google related, Yahoo suggest, Bing related searches and of course  Google keyword tool (only here you should check fr terms with the low competition).
