Google Panda

Google Panda update is one of the search engine’s largest and most significant algorithm updates of the last few years. The first panda update was on February 2011 and its proclaimed purpose was to drop rankings of low-quality sites that provide little added value, copy content from other websites or simply do not contribute nothing to the human user, and at the same time to improve the ranking of quality sites with original content that followed an in-depth research.

According to Google, the update hit about 11.8% of all US search results. Later that year Google Panda was rolled out on additional countries and languages.

Google Panda continues to get updated and the recent update for now, Google 3.6, was on April 2012.
