{"id":1522,"date":"2012-09-20T13:38:50","date_gmt":"2012-09-20T11:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nekuda.co.il\/en\/?p=1522"},"modified":"2018-02-21T11:19:04","modified_gmt":"2018-02-21T09:19:04","slug":"google-updates-search-algorithm-panda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nekuda.co.il\/en\/google-updates-search-algorithm-panda\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Updates Search Algorithm and Panda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Increasing diversity is a term you\u2019d normally expect to see in relation to Higher Education but now Google is getting in on the act with its own attempts to spread diversity (presumably timed to coincide with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nekuda.co.il\/en\/happy-rosh-hashana\/\">Jewish New Year<\/a>\u2026).<\/p>\n<p>Quite apart from any effort to improve racial harmony, Google wants its search results to come from a more diverse range on domains and has issued an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nekuda.co.il\/en\/google-algorithm-updates-2012\/\">algorithm update<\/a> to achieve this. The aim of the update is that users find a wider variety of sites when searching, rather than seeing a number of results from the same domain. Google\u2019s Matt Cutts (via <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mattcutts\/status\/246713559080390656\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">twitter<\/a>) announced it thus:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cJust fyi, we rolled out a small algo change this week that improves the diversity of search results in terms of different domains returned.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/gzlu\/7708863546\/in\/photostream\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1524\" title=\"google panda 3.92\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nekuda.co.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/google-panda-3.92-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"233\" height=\"350\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">image: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/gzlu\/7708863546\/in\/photostream\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Lu<\/a> on Flickr<\/p>\n<p>The diversity algorithm update was followed by a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nekuda.co.il\/en\/seo-glossary\/google-panda\/\">Panda update<\/a> which was announced 18<sup>th<\/sup> September.
