Universal Analytics for eCommerce

Google will soon upgrade all Google Analytics account to Universal Analytics, the updated statistics tool, designed to improve data collecting and processing. Post-Not Provided Organic Traffic Keywords

Search Engine Land offered a way to bypass Google’s search queries encryption and discover the organic keywords hidden behind the Not Provided data. This method uses the data available on Google Analytics landing page reports, list of keywords, landing pages and rankings (using SEMRush or similar tools), search volumes and CTRs of these keywords and a formula to reveal the Not Provided data.

Google Surprising PageRank Update

Google announced a new PageRank update, the first one in ten months. The search marketing industry was surprised Google PageRank update, especially because of its timing, during the holiday season, when many websites buy and sell links.

Facebook Advertising Forecast

Facebook announced updating its advertising products and introducing a new campaign management system on the first half of 2014. Facebook is planning to upgrade its Ads Create Tool, Ads Manager and Power Editor in an attempt to encourage more small business to advertise on Facebook.

Hummingbird’s Impact on Local Search Results

An article on MOZ analyzes the unpredictable effect Google’s new search algorithm has on local search results. The article shows that following Hummingbird, more local search results display on general search queries, but the big earners are not necessarily local businesses but big, national directories such as Yelp.
